Terms of Use

General provisions

These terms govern the use of the Tarot World website: decks, spreads, learning, the blog, the Shop, the assistant and the personal cabinet. When you register, you tick a checkbox confirming that you accept these terms, the privacy policy and the transfer of your assistant messages to an external AI provider. Without this consent an account is not created.

The operator is the Tarot World project. The project has no legal entity: it is run by its owner, a private individual. How data is processed is described in the privacy policy.

The nature of the service

Tarot World is an entertainment and information service, a tool for reflection and self-exploration. Decks, spreads, interpretations, courses, articles and assistant replies are not predictions of the future, and we do not guarantee that they will come true.

Nothing on the site replaces medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice. Do not make decisions based on a spread, an article or an assistant reply if they could harm your health, safety, property or relationships with other people. Do not use tarot in place of a doctor, psychologist or lawyer. In a crisis, contact emergency services or a specialist.

Assistant replies are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Check important information against reliable sources.

Blog articles are written by users. The operator does not review them before publication and is not responsible for their content; see “Publications and moderation”.

Age

The service is intended for users over 16. When you register, you confirm that you are over 16. We do not verify age.

Account and security

  • Some features require an account. Enter the name you are willing to be shown under in articles, comments and reviews, and a working email address.
  • You are responsible for your password and for what happens in your account. Do not give access to other people.
  • Tell us if you notice a sign-in you did not make, or a leaked password. Contacts are at the bottom of this document.
  • We may restrict features or block an account, temporarily or permanently, if it breaks these terms or creates risks for other people or the service.

Your content and the licence

You keep the copyright in what you create on the site: articles, comments, reviews, contact messages, notes, questions in spreads and dialogues, cover images and avatars. We do not claim ownership of them.

For the service to work, you grant Tarot World a non-exclusive licence to use your content worldwide, free of charge. The licence lasts while the content is on the site and covers: storing, copying, displaying, and delivering it to you and other users; showing it in the site search, feeds, tag and author pages, social-media preview images (for an article, its cover), the sitemap and search results. It includes technical changes needed for display (compression, sizes, formats), but not changes to the meaning of the text.

After content is deleted, the licence continues only to the extent needed for backups until they rotate and to comply with the law.

The site’s content — the decks, the card images, the texts of courses and materials published by the operator, the design — belongs to the operator or to rights holders. You receive a personal, non-exclusive right to use it within the service. Copying, selling or distributing it without permission is not allowed.

Your warranties

By publishing or sending content, you confirm that:

  • you are the author of the content or have all rights to use it, including the rights to images and quotations;
  • the content does not infringe copyright and related rights, trademark rights or other people’s image rights;
  • the content contains no personal data of other people without their consent, nor anyone else’s addresses, phone numbers, document or card numbers;
  • you do not break the law and do not knowingly state false facts about people or organisations.

What you may not publish

Any content that does the following is prohibited:

  • calls for a crime, gives instructions for unlawful acts, or offers prohibited goods or substances;
  • incites hatred on grounds of race, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability, calls for violence or praises it;
  • contains sexual material involving minors in any form, including drawings and texts, or sexual content involving coercion or violence. Such material is removed and the account is blocked. Reporting such information where the law requires it requires a decision;
  • contains harassment, threats, stalking or insults aimed at specific people;
  • discloses other people’s private data (addresses, phone numbers, photos without consent) or calls for such disclosure;
  • is spam or advertising, contains hidden links, or manipulates likes, ratings, thank-yous and views;
  • contains malicious files, links or programs, phishing, or attempts to obtain other users’ passwords or card data;
  • impersonates another person, an organisation, the operator or a member of the service’s staff;
  • contains medical, legal or financial “guarantees” and promises of results: for example, that a spread will cure or replace a doctor, or that cards guarantee earnings;
  • presents tarot as professional medical, psychological, legal or financial advice;
  • infringes copyright or related rights: other people’s articles, decks, images and courses used without the rights holder’s permission;
  • otherwise breaks the law or these terms.

The list is not exhaustive. We may restrict any content that breaks the law or these terms.

Publications and moderation

Blog articles are published immediately, without prior review. The operator is not obliged to check content in advance and is not obliged to monitor every publication.

At any time, and without prior notice, we may: hide an article or comment (it stops being shown to everyone, and the author sees the status “hidden”); delete it; restrict the right to publish articles or to comment; block the account. We do this if content breaks these terms, a well-founded report has been received, or it is needed to protect people and the service.

Restrictions (a ban on publishing or commenting) are set by an administrator. The author sees a refusal when trying to act and cannot lift the restriction themselves. An article hidden by a moderator cannot be published or unpublished by its author.

We are not obliged to keep hidden or deleted content.

Reports and rights holders

The menu under every article and comment has a “Report” item. Choose a reason: spam, harassment or abuse, misinformation, illegal content or other. The report goes into the moderation queue. The author does not learn who reported. One person can file one report per item. Reports are reviewed by hand (requires a decision: review timing).

If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright or other rights, send a notice to the support address with “Rights infringement” in the subject line. The notice must contain:

  • your name and a way to contact you;
  • what is protected and where it appears on the site: the page address;
  • a description of the infringement and what, in your view, should be removed;
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised, that the information in the notice is accurate, and that you are entitled to act for the rights holder;
  • a signature, handwritten or electronic.

When we receive a complete notice, we review it. If the infringement is confirmed, we remove the material or restrict access to it, and where possible tell the author of the material. The author may contest the removal with a counter-notice to the same address: it must state that the material does not infringe, and agree that the notice is passed on to the claimant. Response times, the counter-notice procedure and the handling of repeat infringers require a decision.

Assistant and quotas

The assistant replies on behalf of the chosen oracle, taking into account the context you selected. The number of messages is limited by a daily quota. Extra messages are bought with stars. Quotas, prices and the set of oracles may change.

Assistant replies are not professional advice (see “The nature of the service”). The transfer of messages to an external AI provider is described in the privacy policy.

Stars — an internal currency

  • Stars are the service’s virtual internal currency. They have no monetary value and are not electronic money, securities or any other financial instrument.
  • Stars cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for money, another currency or goods, sold, or transferred to another user.
  • Stars appear on the balance as a welcome bonus at sign-up (the amount is set by the operator), as a reward for a course, or after the operator reviews a request or decides on it.
  • Stars are spent on decks, courses, oracles, message packs and thank-yous to authors. Prices and discounts are shown in the Shop before purchase.
  • Stars are not refunded, except where the law requires otherwise or where a charge was made by mistake of the service (for example, a double charge or a purchase that was not delivered).
  • Stars left on the balance when an account is deleted or blocked are not returned (see “Termination”). Star records are kept.
  • If purchasing stars for money is introduced in future, its terms will be described separately and will not apply retroactively (requires a decision: a separate assessment of such a feature).

Thank-yous to authors

You can give an author of an article or comment one star from your balance. One person may give one thank-you per article or comment. You cannot thank yourself.

  • A thank-you is irreversible: the star goes to the author, and it cannot be cancelled or returned. This also applies if the article or comment is later hidden or deleted, including together with the author’s account: a thank-you is voluntary, it is not a payment, and you receive nothing in return.
  • A thank-you has no monetary value. The author cannot withdraw or exchange it.
  • A thank-you is not payment for content, and its presence does not guarantee the author any payment.

Thank-yous are visible to the author and in the article’s counter. Who gave stars is not shown publicly.

Purchases and access

A purchase gives access to digital content: a deck, a course, an oracle or a message pack. Access is tied to your account and cannot be transferred. If a purchase did not complete but stars were charged, tell us and we will sort it out.

The operator may revoke access if you break these terms.

Availability of the service

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We try to keep it running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability: there may be maintenance breaks, communication or power failures, updates, and changes to or discontinuation of individual features. We try to announce significant changes on the site in advance (requires a decision: notice period).

Liability

The operator does not guarantee that the site will work without interruptions or errors, or that the content will suit your purposes. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for losses arising from use of the site, from decisions made on the basis of spreads, articles and assistant replies, from interruptions, from the actions of third parties or from user content.

Nothing in these terms limits liability where such a limit is prohibited. The amount and extent of any limit on liability, and mandatory notices for consumers, require a decision.

Responsibility for your content

If third parties bring claims against the operator because of your content or your breach of these terms, you will reimburse the operator for the costs connected with those claims, to the extent the law allows (requires a decision: the wording of the reimbursement).

Termination

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. The procedure is described in the privacy policy. The operator may block an account for breaking these terms. On deletion or blocking, the star balance is not returned.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. A new version is published on this page with a new date and version number; earlier versions are listed in the history at the bottom. Changes take effect from the date of publication unless the text says otherwise. We try to announce significant changes on the site or by email (requires a decision: notice period).

We do not ask for renewed consent. By continuing to use the site, you accept the new version.

Governing law and disputes

The governing law and the dispute resolution procedure require a decision. Until then, we try to settle disputes by agreement: write to us at the support address.

Other provisions

If any provision of these terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force. The Russian version is the primary one; the English version is provided for convenience (requires a decision: confirm the procedure if the versions differ).

Contacts

For questions about the site, purchases and stars, write to support. For questions about personal data, use the data address. Notices of rights infringement are described in “Reports and rights holders”.
